Success Story

 
Customer requirement:

Most companies today use magnetic-strip swipe cards for access control and to monitor employee attendance and timekeeping. But frequently some people will ask colleagues to help them by swiping them in and out on their behalf, mis-representing their attendance. In addition, magnetic card readers are quite slow to use, often leading to hordes of people clusterd around the door, waiting to swipe their cards. In order to solve this problem, a U.S.A government agency decided to purchase fingerprint recognition machinery instead of magnetic card readers for maintaining attendance records. Fortunately, our customer won the tender for this project and needed to offer around 400-500 fingerprint recognition systems immediately. Due to the limited production volumes required, and because their own production line was already filled, they acted on recommendation and decided to draft in as an EMS provider to save them time and money.
 
Applications:
Finger print recognition apart, we would also recommend use in kiosks, and small TV advertising devices in a convenience store.


Solution:
After many discussions, we suggested our client as follows:
(1) Use of an embedded system instead of the traditional chassis and component boards in order to save space:
  in the past, industrial PC systems normally used component boards on a chassis as their infrastructure. In this project, we suggested our client to use an embedded system to save space which could then be utilized by other accessories such as fingerprint scanners and monitors.
(2) Rust and water resistance：
  This device should have high rust and water resistance to extend operating life . In this project, we used the strict IP65 standards in order to meet the client's requirements.
(3) 24 hour support, one year guarantee:
  We offer one year and 24 hours support guarantee on our product, and in the event of any difficulty in using the product, the client has access to a help desk for immediate support.
(4) External appearance and color matching:
  To fulfill our customer's needs in external appearance, we adopted a special coloring technique for this product, giving it more of an air of quality.
(5) To minimize space taken up by the machine：
  To save space, we use panel / wall mounting installation throughout, which is also highly convenient to use when standing directly outside the door.
(6) Future functionality recommendation:：
  After discussion with our client, we suggested to reserve space for future installation of a CCD Camera. The client was happy with this concept and asked us to pay more attention to this aspect. In the future, the client will use our newly improved model to approach and enter the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) market.

According to this USA government department, use of this system in a short time has reaped great time savings for employees waiting to swipe their cards all at once. In addition, the fingerprint recognition system has put paid to any attempts of misrepresentation and unauthorized absenteeism, and also forms an excellent employee attendance recording system.
