Success Story

Customer requirement:
With the rapid growth of Global Positioning System (GPS), a satellite-based navigation system, the GPS receiver will be able to check its location on the electronic map displayed on the LCD. Installing a GPS on the car not only helps the driver to find his location, but also provides a way to track the vehicle . In addition, transport and logistics companies use GPS to obtain real-time trace information on their delivery trucks, and help the company to manage their delivery system more efficiently.

The client received an order from a USA police vehicle department, and needed to provide around 500 cars with corresponding police system fixtures and equipments. As the number of units required was not large, initiating a production line by themselves would not become economically viable, so they came to and ask us to deliver a mobile in-car system quickly, which would fulfil their needs.
 
Applications:
In-car phone/communication system, monitoring device under adverse conditions (such as in a factory)

Solution:
After discussion with our client, we defined the specification as follows:
(1) The operating interface should be user-friendly:
  An in-car computing and communication system can be damaged easily if that car is being driven hither and thither an bumpy road surfaces. Accordingly the entire solution needed to be designed with superior shock-resistance built-in, in order to prolong the life of the system.
(2) Superior shock-resistant capabilities:

(3) The structure of the in-car PC should be flexible for future upgrade:
  We suggested our client to leave some spare capacity so that extended functionality can be integrated in the future, such as GPS tracking, finger print scanning, ticket and report writing, etc. Our client was happy with this suggestion and decided to work with us in future, in creating more advanced in-car systems.
(4) Low power consumption :
  It is vitally important to keep total power consumption as low as possible. In our CPC-1201, we developed a power source solution with the ACE-810V/ACE-818C power source. These power sources have a high tolerance level in input power, and are also integrated with a backup battery module to provide a continuous supply of power. Moreover, the CPC-1201 uses an embedded CPU in order to minimize the number of moving parts as well as optimize power consumption.
(5) Removable Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Device :
  A removable HDD can be taken out and submitted to the police officer finishes his daily duty .
(6) Water-Proof Keyboard:
  While on duty, it is convenient for the police officer to connect electronically to the police station and perform data-checking and verification as necessary.
(7) Image Capture:
  An image capture function can record evidence of a crime in real time. CPC-1201 is guaranteed to capture consistent high quality video / data, provide dependable computing functionality.
