The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronics Equipment Directive (RoHS) in ICP

RoHS, The Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronics Equipment Directive, will be put into effect through Europe from July 1st, 2006.

This directive aims at removing mercury, cadmium, lead, chromium VI, PBB and PBDE from electrical and electronic equipments, thereby greatly reduces the risks on human body and environment relating to these hazardous substances. To abide by this legislation, manufacturers will need to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of lead and cadmium in polymeric materials under the terms and conditions of RoHS Directive. ICP takes initiatives to come up with a RoHS-compliance manufacturing process, making sure substances specified by the Directive are kept under their maximum concentration levels (0.1% for lead, 0.01% for cadmium), and therefore gives customers confidence needed to go to the market.
